How it works

  1. 1

Drop in a video — it stays entirely on your device and is never uploaded.

  2. 2

Set the start time, duration, frame rate, output width and colour count.

  3. 3

Convert and download the animated GIF.

Questions

Why can GIF files get so large?

GIF uses a palette-based compression scheme with at most 256 colours per frame, which is far less efficient than modern video codecs. A shorter clip, lower frame rate, smaller output width and fewer colours all reduce the file size significantly.

Does my video get uploaded?

No. The entire conversion runs inside your browser. The video bytes never leave your device.

Which video formats are supported?

Any format your browser can decode — MP4 (H.264) and WebM (VP8/VP9) work in every modern browser. Less common codecs may not decode here, and the tool will explain what went wrong rather than failing silently.

How do I keep the output file small?

Lower the duration to a few seconds, drop the frame rate to 5–8 fps, choose 320 or 480 px width, and reduce the colour count to 64 or fewer. Each of those steps makes a noticeable difference.

The GIF looks choppy — what can I do?

Raise the frame rate toward 15–20 fps. Bear in mind that a higher frame rate also increases the file size, so there is a trade-off between smoothness and compactness.

Capture Video Frame

Capture Video Frame

Grab a still image from any moment in a video and save it as a PNG, JPEG or WebP.

Convert Video

Convert Video

Change a video's container format and codec — pick MP4 or WebM and the quality level that suits your needs.

Compress Video

Compress Video

Reduce a video's file size by targeting a lower bitrate and, optionally, a smaller frame size — and see exactly how many bytes you saved.

Rotate Video

Rotate Video

Spin a video 90°, 180°, or 270° — uses lossless metadata when the container supports it.

Flip Video

Flip Video

Mirror a video horizontally or vertically to correct its orientation or create a reflection effect.

Mute Video

Mute Video

Strip the audio track from a video file and keep the picture exactly as it is.

GIF to MP4

GIF to MP4

Convert an animated GIF to an MP4 video — usually far smaller than the source GIF and compatible everywhere.

Merge Video

Merge Video

Join multiple video clips into a single file in the order you choose, entirely in your browser.
