Rotate Video
Spin a video 90°, 180°, or 270° — uses lossless metadata when the container supports it.
How it works
- 1
Drop in a video — it stays on your device and nothing is uploaded.
- 2
Pick the angle and an output format, then click Rotate video.
- 3
Download the rotated file.
Questions
Does my video get uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser processes everything locally using its own built-in codecs. Nothing leaves your device.
What is the difference between metadata rotation and re-encoding?
When the output container supports a rotation flag (MP4 does), the tool writes the angle as metadata and leaves the video data untouched — fast and lossless. When the container cannot store a rotation flag, the frames are decoded, rotated, and re-encoded, which is slower and involves a quality step. The result note tells you which happened.
Which video formats work as input?
Any format your browser can decode — MP4 (H.264) and WebM (VP8/VP9) work in all modern browsers. Less common codecs depend on the browser and the tool will say so.
Why does my player still show the video sideways?
Some older players ignore the rotation metadata. Re-encoding with the flag turned off bakes the rotation into the frames so every player gets it right, but that is not what this tool does by default. Try a player like VLC or the system video app first.
