Compress Video

Reduce a video's file size by targeting a lower bitrate and, optionally, a smaller frame size — and see exactly how many bytes you saved.

How it works

  1. 1

Drop in a video — it stays on your device and is never uploaded anywhere.

  2. 2

Pick how aggressively to compress and, optionally, cap the frame size.

  3. 3

Compress the video and download the result with the real before/after size shown.

Questions

Does my video get uploaded?

No. Compression runs entirely in your browser using your device's built-in video encoding. Your file never leaves your device.

Why might the output be larger than the original?

If your source video already uses an efficient codec at a low bitrate, re-encoding at the same or higher bitrate will add overhead rather than save space. The tool will always tell you the real before-and-after sizes — it will never claim a saving it did not achieve.

What do the compression levels mean?

Each level sets a target bitrate for the video track: 2 Mbps for 'Smaller', 1 Mbps for 'Much smaller', and 500 kbps for 'Smallest'. Lower bitrates reduce file size but may introduce visible artefacts, especially in fast-moving scenes.

What does downscaling do?

Capping the long edge (width or height) at 1080, 720 or 480 pixels reduces the number of pixels in each frame, which at the same bitrate means better per-pixel quality — and often a smaller file. The aspect ratio is always preserved exactly.

Which codec is used for the output?

The tool picks H.264 (AVC) when your browser supports it — this gives an MP4 that plays on virtually every device. If H.264 is unavailable it falls back to VP9 in a WebM container. AV1 encoding is not used because broad browser support for AV1 encoding is not yet universal.

Capture Video Frame

Capture Video Frame

Grab a still image from any moment in a video and save it as a PNG, JPEG or WebP.

Convert Video

Convert Video

Change a video's container format and codec — pick MP4 or WebM and the quality level that suits your needs.

Rotate Video

Rotate Video

Spin a video 90°, 180°, or 270° — uses lossless metadata when the container supports it.

Flip Video

Flip Video

Mirror a video horizontally or vertically to correct its orientation or create a reflection effect.

Mute Video

Mute Video

Strip the audio track from a video file and keep the picture exactly as it is.

Video to GIF

Video to GIF

Turn a section of any video into an animated GIF, with control over frame rate, output size and colour depth.

GIF to MP4

GIF to MP4

Convert an animated GIF to an MP4 video — usually far smaller than the source GIF and compatible everywhere.

Merge Video

Merge Video

Join multiple video clips into a single file in the order you choose, entirely in your browser.
