Volume Changer
Raise or lower the volume of any audio file and see the resulting peak level before you download.
How it works
- 1
Drop in an audio file — it stays on your device, nothing is uploaded.
- 2
Drag the gain slider, then click Change volume.
- 3
Watch the peak reading. If the tool warns about clipping, reduce the gain and try again.
Questions
What does the peak reading mean?
Peak level shows the loudest point in the adjusted file in dBFS (decibels relative to full scale). 0 dBFS is the maximum before clipping. A result above 0 dBFS means some samples were clipped to fit inside the limit, which causes distortion.
How do I avoid clipping?
Keep the gain low enough that the peak stays below 0 dBFS. If the tool warns about clipping, reduce the gain in small steps until the warning disappears.
Does my audio file get uploaded?
No. The file is decoded and processed entirely in your browser. Nothing leaves your device.
Why does the output come out as a WAV file?
WAV is a lossless container that does not need a separate encoder in the browser. You can convert the result to MP3 or another format using a converter tool.
Which audio formats can I use as input?
Any format your browser can decode — MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG, FLAC, and M4A work in most browsers. The tool will report an error if a format is not supported.
