GIF Speed Changer

Speed up or slow down an animated GIF by adjusting every frame's delay with a simple multiplier.

How it works

  1. 1

Upload the animated GIF whose speed you want to adjust.

  2. 2

Choose a speed factor: values below 1× slow the animation by stretching delays, values above 1× speed it up by shortening them.

  3. 3

Click Change Speed and download the result.

Questions

Why does a very fast speed factor still look slow?

Browsers enforce a minimum inter-frame delay of around 20 ms. If the adjusted delay would fall below that, it is clamped to the minimum, so very high speed factors have no additional effect beyond what the browser can actually display.

What does the speed factor multiply?

It is applied to each frame's display delay. A factor of 2 doubles every delay, making the animation play at half the original speed. A factor of 0.5 halves every delay, making it play twice as fast.

Does this change the number of frames?

No. Only the timing changes. The animation will have the same number of frames; it will just spend more or less time on each one.

Will my file be sent anywhere?

No. Processing runs entirely in your browser. Your GIF never leaves your device.
