Favicon Generator
Generate a full favicon set from one image: a three-size ICO, an Apple touch icon, PWA icons, a webmanifest, and the HTML.
How it works
- 1
Drop any image onto the upload area. A square PNG with a transparent background at 512×512 or larger gives the sharpest results across all sizes.
- 2
Click Generate — the tool resizes your image to every required dimension, builds the ICO container, writes a site.webmanifest with PWA icon references, and bundles a copy-ready HTML snippet.
- 3
Download the zip, copy all files to the root of your website, then paste the HTML snippet into every page's <head> block.
Questions
What files are inside the zip?
favicon.ico (containing 16, 32 and 48 px frames), apple-touch-icon.png (180×180 for iOS home-screen bookmarks), icon-192.png and icon-512.png (for PWA manifests), favicon-32x32.png (a standalone 32 px PNG), site.webmanifest (a minimal web app manifest), and favicon-snippet.html (the <link> tags to paste into your <head>).
Where should I place these files on my website?
Put all files in the root directory of your site (the same level as your homepage). The HTML snippet references them at root-relative paths like /favicon.ico and /site.webmanifest. If you place them in a subfolder, update the paths in the snippet and the manifest.
Will my image be sent to a server?
No. All resizing, encoding and packaging runs directly in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.
What size should my source image be?
A square image of at least 512×512 pixels gives the best quality at all output sizes. The tool scales it down; upscaling a small source produces blurry results. PNG with a transparent background works best for icons placed on any coloured background.
Do I need all the output files?
favicon.ico is the minimum. Add the Apple touch icon if your visitors bookmark your site on iOS. Include the PWA icons and manifest only if you are building a Progressive Web App. The HTML snippet explains which link tags activate each file.
