Questions
Does the image leave my device?
No. The image is decoded and displayed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Why does the image look slightly different after loading?
The tool re-encodes the image at up to 1 200 px on the longest side so that the canvas fits in memory. The colours you sample reflect this scaled-down copy.
How is the pixel colour read without a server?
When you click the canvas, the tool reads the RGBA bytes of that pixel from a local buffer and converts them to hex and HSL entirely in JavaScript — no network request is made.
What does the loupe show?
The loupe magnifies the 11×11 pixel neighbourhood around the point you clicked at 8× zoom, with a crosshair marking the exact sampled pixel.
