PDF to Word

Pull the text out of a PDF and save it as an editable Word document you can open in any word processor.

How it works

  1. 1

Drop your PDF onto the upload area — the tool reads its text layer directly in your browser.

  2. 2

Choose whether to add a page break between each PDF page in the Word document.

  3. 3

Click Convert to Word to download the editable .docx file.

Questions

What gets converted and what is lost?

The tool extracts the text layer and puts each line into a Word paragraph. Columns, tables, images, and exact typesetting are not preserved — you get the words in reading order, not a pixel-perfect replica of the PDF. This is the fidelity ceiling stated in ADR-0005.

Why does the result say the PDF looks like a scan?

Scanned PDFs and image-only files have no text layer for the tool to read. Run OCR software on the scanned file first to add a text layer, then come back and try again.

Can I convert a password-protected PDF?

Remove the password first with the Unlock PDF tool, then convert here.

Does my file leave the browser?

No. The PDF is read and converted entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
