Questions

How is a sentence detected?

Any run of text ending with a period, exclamation mark, or question mark counts as one sentence. A trailing fragment without terminal punctuation also counts as one sentence.

Why does my text show more sentences than expected?

Abbreviations and ellipses that end with a period can be counted as sentence boundaries. Removing trailing punctuation from abbreviations usually resolves this.

Does this work on non-English text?

Yes, as long as the text uses standard terminal punctuation. The counter looks for . ! ? regardless of language.

Is anything uploaded or stored?

No. The counter runs entirely in your browser; your text never leaves your device.
