Questions
What counts as the start of a new sentence?
A period, exclamation mark, or question mark followed by a space signals a sentence break and triggers capitalization of the next character.
Does it capitalize proper nouns?
No — sentence case only capitalizes the first letter of each sentence. Proper nouns that follow will be lowercased along with everything else.
How does it handle abbreviations like 'e.g.'?
A period immediately followed by another letter (no space) is not treated as a sentence break, so 'e.g. next word' will correctly capitalize 'next'.
